Rock the Holidays DC! For widowed people and those who love them

Widows Rock the Holidays! DC is one of six regional events to connect widowed people of all ages. Please join us to meet each other and support the work of the Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation.

I am hosting the very special DC event this coming Sunday, Dec. 5, from 4-6 pm at the Katzen Arts Center at AU. You’ll be able to see the last drawings my late husband, Kevin MacDonald, made as he (I now understand) confronted his mortality, and those who wish to may take a short tour of the lively exhibit, “Catalyst: 35 years of Washington Project for the Arts,” with exhibition curator, J.W. Mahoney.

Swag bags will include a super-sized coffee mug that elegantly states, “Death Sucks.” We’ll have very light refreshments at the museum, and anyone who wants more time together can join me afterwards at a nearby restaurant (dutch treat).

I’ll prepare a swag bag for everyone who purchases an advance $25 ticket online. You’re welcome to just show up and make a donation at the event, too.

There is no formal childcare, but the event is largely unstructured, in a huge space, and there is an outdoor sculpture garden for running around if weather permits.

Feel free to spread the word; the event is open to all (not just widowed people).
